Kutless - Carry Me To The Cross (Official Lyric Slide) - YouTube

I heard this on the radio the other day. So beautiful! A great song to start the New Year.

Resolutions - A Work In Progress

Day 1 December 31, 2011
The New Year is just a few hours away and I haven't made any definitive resolutions yet. I just read something that discussed the difference between resolutions and goals. Goals being something that can be achieved (lose 25 pounds) while resolutions are a continual thing to address (exercise 5 days a week). It said having both wouldn't be a bad idea. At the moment, the following are what I have on my mind but as always, I am a work in progress....

1. B+ (Be Positive) I am going to make this one of my resolutions for the year. Short, easy to remember, and will be uplifting everyday.

2. Increase water intake - in the spirit of #1, I am going to say increase water intake instead of thinking in the negative by saying decreasing my Dr Pepper intake. Hope by increasing my water the result will lead to the decrease of my Dr Pepper intake.

3. B more active - I need to figure out my goals to follow through with this resolution. Over the years, I have had the best success when I was walking for exercise and lifting weights. I am having deciding on a routine of how to do that since my days are different now from the time I was doing that. Might get a Wii or Kinect to have a new gadget and get exercise - FUN!

INTROSPECTION

Introspection

It is that time of year for introspection and evaluation of life, goals, hopes and dreams. I am 43 years old and will be 44 in 2012. My life has not turned out at all like I dreamed of as a child but that does not mean that it is not a good life. I am blessed with the love of God. I have a roof over my head and food on my table. I have a wonderful family and amazing friends. I still have reasonable health (a few bumps in the road but not enough to cause too much trouble). I have many interests so I am never bored. I often wish I had more money but I am pretty sure that I am not alone in that wish. I have my eyesight so I can enjoy the world around me.

Recent GetGlue Sticker Arrivals

Some pretty good sheets - I like it when there are a bunch from the same show on one sheet like the Bag of Bones and the DWTS ones. I think the 2nd to last one is my favorite though with the stickers from Pirates, American Idol, Dr Who & Firefly.

dream translates into ‘aisling’ (ash-ling)

Loved this-found it here

"So, to find the right word to describe these quite unsurpassably beautiful pictures, we retreated into Gaeilge (the Irish language). In Gaeilge, the word dream translates into ‘aisling’ (ash-ling). Yep, that was pretty enough.
That fit."

Me

Honey Badger Don't Care

This is too crazy! I don't like him calling the Honey Badger stupid but that thing is quite the hunter. I guess it is a good example of the hardworking Hufflepuffs! Isn't it interesting how the other animals/reptiles in the video are a bird and a snake. LOL!

Natchez Balloon Race 2011

Thank you, God

I have been LOVING the beautiful cool fall mornings! Perfect weather for football and fun day trips around the area. A bunch of my friends were talking about going to the Natchez Balloon Festival weekend of October 15th and I was bummed because I am scheduled to work on call that weekend. I was glad to be off the weekend after that because it is the 11th anniversary of my husband's death and I usually schedule a day or two off during that time. Then today one of the other nurses called and asked to trade weekends with me so she could be off the weekend of October 22-23 and she would work weekend of October 15th. I took that as a sign that God wanted me to do something fun instead of focusing on the sadness. So I could go on an adventure to the balloon festival on the 15th and would be distracted with work the next weekend. Sounds good to me. First thing I have really felt excited about in a long time. Of course, when I called the friends the plans have already changed and they aren't going to the balloon festival now :-( so now I am trying to decide whether to go to the balloon festival by myself or not. I'm leaning toward going........

New dog.....

I stopped the other day when I saw a stray dog because I thought it looked like one of mine and I was worried Tinker had wandered too far from home.
This was almost to the highway so once I did stop and realized it wasn't my dog, I hated to leave it there so close to the road. So off we went to my house and of course so far he seems to like it here LOL!

So here is Goober:

And this is Tinker...she is not very happy with the new dog. She is letting him know that she rules the roost! He still runs up to her but he has his tail tucked between his legs LOL

Sorting

It was fun to take this quiz & imagine life at Hogwarts.

This was taken prior to Pottormore even existing. Amazing how accuarate it is though because when I sorted in Pottormore I was truly a Hufflepuff. And regardless of the naysayers out there, Hufflepuff is an wonderful house to be in!!!

Your in-depth results are:
Hufflepuff - 14

Ravenclaw - 12

Gryffindor - 10

Slytherin - 8

My Pictures from Ground Zero from July 2008

My Pictures from Ground Zero from July 2008

I have been watching all the shows about the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I am glad to see the memorials coming to shape around the country. I have a new hope to be able to go visit those sites.  I went to Ground Zero when I was in New York in 2008 but they have made so much progress on the memorial that it doesn't even look like the same place.  I keep remembering when I was there how enclosed the area was. I don't know if I got there the back way because I was lost or not but the streets seemed small and closed in. It was hard not to stand in that spot and picture that horrible giant cloud rushing through those streets and how that cloud indicated the loss of hope for saving so many. Now we have to find out hope in other things and that is what is so wonderful about being an American - the freedom to do so!

SERENDIPITY

I have been wanting to make a centralized blog for my various interests and was finally motivated enough to take the steps today.  I view my blogs as places where I can record things that I am interested in, memorialize fun times and exciting memories and to give me a place to try to coordinate my interests.  In the process of doing this, if other people benefit from the information I share then that is even better. I ran through a few ideas of what to name such a place but my interests are so varied, I had trouble deciding. I checked on the availability of a few the ideas but they were already grabbed up by others...sigh..  So I decided to go with one of my favorite words - serendipity. I have loved this word since I was little. There was a small store that we passed on the way to the library when I was growing up. Their name was Serendipity and I loved how that sounded. On the Serendipity Wiki, serendipity is defined as "when someone finds something that they weren't expecting to find". Considering I am always finding things that catch my interest that I was not expecting to find, this seems to be a pretty appropriate title.......
